ClearCut

Remove the background from any photo.

Drop in an image, click the backdrop, and download a transparent PNG. Everything runs in your browser, so your photos stay on your device.

You can also paste one from your clipboard. PNG, JPG and WebP work.

Handles busy, colorful and complicated backgrounds.

How it works

  1. Add an image

Drop a file, choose one, or paste from your clipboard.

  2. Watch it remove the background

Removal starts the moment your photo loads, using your GPU when the browser supports it. Then tidy up with Erase and Restore if needed.

  3. Download

Save a transparent PNG, or pick a solid background color first and download with it applied.

First run: the AI model (about 80 MB) downloads once and your browser keeps it afterwards, so later images are much faster. Your image is still processed on your device and never uploaded.

Questions

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The image is processed by your browser and never sent to a server. Only the AI model files are downloaded to your device.

Why is there a fringe around my subject?

Edge pixels can blend the subject with the old background. Raise Shrink edge by one or two steps to trim them, and use Soften edge to smooth the cut.

Part of my subject disappeared. How do I fix it?

Select the Restore tool and paint the missing area back in. Undo also steps back through every change.

What size is the downloaded file?

A PNG at the same size as your image. Images larger than 2400 pixels on the long side are scaled down so editing stays fast.
